HPL is considered to be one of the most durable decorative surface materials and is available with special performance properties including chemical, fire and wear resistance.

HPL is produced by saturating multiple layers of kraft paper with phenolic resin. A layer of printed décor paper is placed on top of the kraft paper before pressing. The resulting sandwich is fused together under heat and pressure (more than 1,000 PSI). The combination of heat and pressure creates a single, rigid laminated sheet. Thermosetting creates strong, irreversible bonds that contribute to HPL’s durability.

HPL is laminated to a panel utilizing a variety of adhesives. Particleboard or MDF are the preferred substrate because they provide a stable, durable, consistent and economical foundation. Due to its durability, HPL is a common choice for horizontal surfaces including flooring, countertops and desktops. It also performs well in horizontal and vertical applications for high traffic settings such as hospitality, office furniture, healthcare, retail casework, commercial interiors and educational facilities.

The typical thicknesses available are 0.45mm, 0.6mm and 0.8mm with a standard size of 1220mm x 2440mm (8 x 4 feet).

Melamite (Phenolic resin based paper laminates) has various uses. Primarily it is used as an insulation barrier to prevent leakage of electric current. This product was initially manufactured under decorative grade. But today Melamite is available in three separate end use categories. All grades mentioned below are available in thicknesses of 0.8 mm upwards as per requirement of our customers in sheet size of 2440 x 1220 mm (8' x 4')

Melamite is available in various colors and patterns from the decorative range of Formite. Our decorative grade is primarily used in domestic and commercial switch boards. There are several advantages of using our product which are listed below:

• Comparatively better insulation than plastic
• It does not burn or break easily
• Aesthetically appealing

It is a general purpose insulation material for use in areas where the higher insulation is not desired, but still a barrier is needed. It is ideal for use in small appliances, fans, washing machines etc. Formite does not guarantee any specific parameters or insulation resistance.

We offer electric as well as decorative/construction grade as per British Standard specifications BSEN 60893 - 3 - 4: 1995. P1 (PFCP 201), It has mechanical applications & mechanical properties better than other PFCP type. It has low electrical properties under normal humidity. It has various utilities i.e. pressure blocks for transformer insulation in electric motors, switch gears & panels.

P2 (PFCP 202), It has low mechanical application but high Voltage application at power frequencies and high electric strength under oil. It also has good electrical strength in air under normal humidity. It is mostly used for tap changers, insulation between silicon windings of transformers, switch panels & gears as insulation barrier.
